Jakobi Bonner, also known as “Kobra,” comes with extensive basketball knowledge on the college and professional level with an unwavering commitment on seeing players around him maximize their full potential. Known for his unrelenting work ethic and selfless dedication to others, it is not a surprise that he is an asset for those looking to enhance their opportunities on and off the court.
Jakobi competed on the JV and Varsity level at Winter Springs High School for his first two years as a starter, earning the Defensive Player of the Year award his sophomore year. He then finished the last two years of his High School career at the The Master’s Academy (TMA) under Coaches Reggie and Steve Kohn — two of the most winningest coaches in Florida basketball history. He left as the All-time leading scorer in Men’s Basketball history, was an FHSAA All-State selection (2016), 2-time Orlando Sentinel All-Area Selection, District Player of the Year Award Winner (2016), led the program to its first district championship (2015), led the team to a #1 ranking in the Orlando Sentinel, Top-5 scorer in the area, Top scorer in the prestigious Iolani Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii (2015), and also named the TMA Male Athlete of the Year (2016).
Jakobi then continued his career to play for Coach Tom Klusman at Rollins College; he is the 13th-winningest coach in Division 2 history and 37th all-time across all levels of the NCAA. Jakobi helped lead his team to one of the best seasons in program history by capturing their Conference Tournament Championship (2017), a South Region Championship (2017), and advancing to the Elite Eight (2017). Other collegiate highlights include: being named Team Captain in 2018, NCAA Top-10 Plays (January 2018), a game-winning shot to beat the #1 team in the country (2019), SSC All-Conference (2020), Rollins College Male-Athlete of the Year (2020), 9th-all time on the men's 3-PT percentage list, and leaving 26th on the Rollins College Men’s all-time scoring list.
Furthermore, Jakobi went on to start his professional basketball career in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, while also earning his Master's Degree in Business. He made pit stops over the years in the United Kingdom, Montenegro, and Albania. During his time overseas, he was named as an All-Euro Basket member multiple times, and also led his team to an Albanian National Championship, the first team in country history to come back from down 0-2 in a series; he set the record of scoring 27 points in 26 minutes in Game 5, the final game of the series.
Jakobi has played for some of the most successful coaches in Florida High School basketball history and also the NCAA — all are on the record saying he is the hardest working and most competitive player that they have ever coached.
Jakobi now seeks to use his experience and success as a player to advance the careers of the youth in the area. Growing up, he worked with many of the top trainers and coaches in Florida; thus allowing him to bring a comprehensive and distinct coaching style to individuals of all backgrounds and skill sets, with a unique ability to meet them where they’re at.
